CST 334 - Week 7

 This week was about storage persistence, including I/O devices, hard disk drives, and RAID systems. These topics were not new to me because I have already taken hardware and digital forensics courses, where the basics were covered. However, this course focuses more on development using code and math, while also explaining files and directories for the same purpose. The interesting part of this week’s topics was that the article chosen by my team for the group project was related to read and write operations on storage devices for energy efficiency. In this case, the concepts from the course helped me better understand the article, especially since it did not explain some of the technical terms.

       After reading about effective study skills, I’ve noticed that while I have some experience, I haven’t mastered skills like taking notes, outlining textbooks, and organizing my notes for revision. My weaker areas are managing my time, revising my schedule, and making every hour count.      One management skill I need to improve is prioritization. Module 4:

 My educational goal in Computer Science is to develop my front-end skills, as I feel I lack knowledge in design and color palettes. I also want to learn more about operating systems, but I’m still unsure about what the course covers. The books I’ve seen mainly focus on learning Linux commands and programming in C. I don’t have a specific career goal in Computer Science besides wanting a job where I can work from home. I’m not ready to leave the valley where I live, but I’m considering it since I’m pretty sure there’s no job market for CS here. I’ll be ready to take the test in 18 months, and I’d like to achieve an 80% score. This week was focused more on reflecting about my career, AI, and team collaboration. It was interesting to think about these topics.

Module 5 - 338

I worked with Rene, Krithika and Joseph on this assignment. For this assignment , I decided to start well in advance of the due date . I began by reading the prompt before starting the work . When writing the code , I started with the smallest function , as well as the first one required to make the others work . Finally , the last method I implemented was addFromFile . This strategy gave me plenty of time to check for errors . The strategy my classmates used was for all of us to read the prompt before starting. Joseph decided to follow the methods in order, but if a method required another to function, he adjusted the sequence. Krithika began with the easiest method first and focused on the one necessary to make other methods work. Similarly, Rene referred to past discussions to identify the easiest methods to start with.
