Module7&8 - 338

I checked my Homework 1, the Jotto assignment, but after a week, I still can't figure out why, once I start the game, it prints one of the answers. I vaguely remember finding the cause when I worked on the assignment, but I left it for debugging so I could get the correct and wrong answers. However, I can't remember where that print statement was located anymore. I realized that one victory is that I'm more confident in coding now, even though it's been a year since I last practiced coding after finishing college, and I’ve taken another programming class. I also learned more about Android Studio, which was something I had never used before.

Module 5 - 338

I worked with Rene, Krithika and Joseph on this assignment. For this assignment , I decided to start well in advance of the due date . I began by reading the prompt before starting the work . When writing the code , I started with the smallest function , as well as the first one required to make the others work . Finally , the last method I implemented was addFromFile . This strategy gave me plenty of time to check for errors . The strategy my classmates used was for all of us to read the prompt before starting. Joseph decided to follow the methods in order, but if a method required another to function, he adjusted the sequence. Krithika began with the easiest method first and focused on the one necessary to make other methods work. Similarly, Rene referred to past discussions to identify the easiest methods to start with. I believe my strategy worked well for this assignment because it was not too complicated. I only struggled with one method because I didn’t fully understand that par...

Module 4 - 338

 1. I worked with my team members Joe, Rene, and Krithika. 2. I started the assignment by reading the prompt. Then, I wrote the functions and simplified the ones I understood. If i encountered challenging code, I reread the prompt to understand it better, wrote the code, and kept revising it until it was correct. 3. I noticed that our strategies were similar in starting with the easy code, but they differed in other aspects. For instance, Krithika writes pseudocode first to understand each concept. Joe’s approach was somewhat similar to mine, but he mentioned that the process becomes more challenging as the project grows. Rene's strategy was also similar, but he separated the work into sections to review and complete them. 4. I realized that I should also create pseudocode for larger projects. 5. I noticed, with the help of my teammates, that we all used the same Google Java Style, though some points were likely missed because we learned a similar format. I also didn’t know that In...

Module 3 - 338

For Parts 1 and 2 of the library project, I received positive feedback. It was mentioned that, to avoid a warning, I can modify my Arraylist to prevent the IDE from flagging it. I was also advised to add comments to make it easier to read and maintain the project in the future. I didn’t struggle too much with the first two parts because Part 1 had a video example, and Part 2 wasn’t too difficult. I feel that I completed Part 2 quickly, which I consider an achievement.

Module 2 - 338

For HW01, I followed the video, but I haven't added the methods to perform the tests yet. After reviewing the prompt, I believe the Guess method will be the hardest. For Week 1, I didn't encounter many difficulties, but unfortunately, when I finished the HW01 CodingBat exercises, I forgot to log in with my account. As a result, all my progress was reset, and I had to redo everything. I've 'learned' to always read the instructions carefully before starting the work. The same issue carried over into HW03 because I didn't read the specifications correctly and added the wrong constructors. However, now that the second week is coming to a close, I think I've finally learned my lesson. Besides those problems, I found the assignment fun to work on, and the quizzes weren't as difficult as I had feared.

Module 1 - 338

I wrote this journal entry after completing the CodingBat problems. The part I had the most difficulty with was String-2, where I couldn’t complete the xyzThere problems. I encountered some index out of range errors and struggled to come up with a solution. So, I decided to move on to bobThere, which also gave me trouble. However, on my last attempt, I remembered regex patterns and used them.      For Map-1, I hadn't practiced in a long time, so I used the Java Help link, and I didn’t have any trouble solving the problems after that. The same was true for functional-1; I had never practiced it before, but Java Help showed me the replaceAll() method, and all the exercises were similar.      For String-2, it took me a lot of tries to earn the 2 stars. For each exercise, I read the problems, took a moment to think of solutions, and tried my approach. If my solution didn’t work, I checked if I could replace something or thought of a n...

Module 8

The first video I reviewed was OpenAI: From Open to Closed by Seawolves. The first part of the video discussed the history of the company, while the second part focused on their product, ChatGPT, and the potential future of the company. I believe the topic was well-covered, with strong presentation and quality research. The images and clips were effective additions, enhancing the production quality and making the video engaging. Although the voice was AI-generated, it used two different tones to represent the contributions of each member. Overall, I consider the video to be well-produced and professional. The second video I reviewed was Wearable Technology by Data Dolphins, which explored the history and current state of smartwatches, smart glasses, headphones, and earbuds. The topic presented valuable information that was enjoyable to learn, with a clear presentation and solid research. I liked the white background, and the images provided were well-chosen. Although the voice w...
